Adolescent Center Staff

At the Adolescent Center, we believe that the strength of our programming lies in providing a variety of experiences and encouraging each teen to relate the experience to his or her issues. Our staff excel at helping each teen transfer this new awareness and understanding into daily living skills such as communication, family interaction, personal achievement and self-responsibility.

While staying at the center your teen has access to a full range of health specialists specifically trained for this age group, including:

  • Board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists
  • Licensed clinical psychologists
  • Master’s level therapists
  • Behavioral specialists
  • Pediatric, family practice and internal medicine physicians
  • Registered psychiatric nurses
  • Registered dietitians
  • Experiential therapists
  • Certified teachers
  • Child and adolescent trained counselors

Our staff stays up-to-date with the latest advances in emotional and behavioral treatment and can provide valuable guidance to help your teen reach his or her goals.

Other treatment centers on our campus provide on-site access to experts for consultation for eating disorders, addiction and other behavioral health concerns.

Meet the Manager: Bob Mills, CTRS

Bob Mills has been the manager of the Adolescent Center since it first opened. He and Dr. Peter Lake saw the needs of younger patients and worked together to develop a program specifically for teens. Bob has an extensive background of more than 20 years working directly with teens as experiential and adventure therapist.

“A rewarding aspect of my role is to help parents and their child understand what can be accomplished here. I enjoy assisting families in understanding our program, making sure it’s a good fit. It is important to me that each teen and their family connect with our treatment team and feel that they are creating an individualized treatment plan that they understand and support.

Bob especially enjoys working with members of the treatment team to help teens who are feeling stuck, or feel that there’s no hope for them and then seeing them move forward in treatment.

“It’s a big step for any teen to come forward and accept help with difficult problems. We respect the opportunity we have to assist them in overcoming obstacles that have limited them somehow .Our multidisciplinary team works to provide real experiences that have real world transfer as they leave our program. Our young residents respond well to the balance we have of clinical opportunities blended with experiential and adventure therapy activities.”
