If your policy does not have this level of coverage, your plan may allow you to “flex” inpatient days to cover residential care. You may want to contact your employer’s human resources department staff to see if they can offer you assistance. Also, if you are currently being seen by outpatient providers, be sure to discuss residential treatment with them. They may be able to provide additional clinical information to your insurance carrier about the necessity of seeking this more intensive level of care.
