Alexander M. Scharko, MD nAlexander M. Scharko, MD is a triple board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine.

Dr. Scharko is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. He is a clinical faculty member in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

His research interests include pediatric behavior dysregulation disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders and psychiatric medication adverse effects in children and adolescents.

Dr. Scharko is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. His postdoctoral work included a research fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed his residency in psychiatry along with his clinical fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.

He has numerous awards, honors, and publications and frequently gives presentations to professional and academic audiences on the topic of child and adolescent psychiatry.
