Rogers Memorial Hospital recently offered another group of select professionals an opportunity to engage with the hospital’s eating disorder experts on a one-on-one basis. Laurie Hungerford, an account manager from U.S. News & World Report, was among those who attended. As part of Up Close @ Rogers, the group of professionals received a guided tour of Rogers’ 50-acre campus and programs and listened to messages by Theodore E. Weltzin, M.D., FAED, and Tracey Lee Cornella-Carlson, M.D., the medical leadership of the Eating Disorder Center at Rogers. The program welcomes a variety of healthcare specialists, including nutrition therapists, dietitians, psychologists, psychotherapists, and more. Up Close @ Rogers was created to offer key professionals the opportunity to learn more about Rogers’ scope of treatment through an intimate tour and conversations with medical directors and clinicians. Periodically provided for select professionals who would benefit from an inside look, Up Close @ Rogers offers them insight on the advantages of the hospital’s many treatment programs.

Rogers Memorial Hospital is privileged to have some of the most experienced leaders in behavioral health in the country, but it’s always an honor when others also recognize their expertise. The current issue of Madison Magazine lists Michael M. Miller, MD, FASAM, FAPA, the Medical Director of the Herrington Recovery Center, among the “Top Docs of Madison” for addiction treatment! The listing, which is published biannually, is compiled from answers to a survey sent to the area’s physicians, who vote for up to three doctors in each of 70 specialties.

The collegial environment at the 19th Annual International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) Conference set the stage for Rogers’ staff and other thought leaders and specialists to collaborate … all with a commitment toward providing more effective treatment. Paul Mueller, Rogers’ Chief Operating Officer, indicated that it was a wonderful opportunity to network with leading clinicians in the industry: “By sharing with one another, we’re able to learn more about the best forms of treatment, while learning about the care being provided in the industry, as well as their outcomes. Ultimately, this information is used by all of us to provide the most effective OCD treatment we can for our patients.”

Rogers Memorial Hospital served over 1,000 children from the community and surrounding areas on August 14 during Kid’s Fest at Roosevelt Park. With 20 years’ experience, the friendly balloon artists made everything the children requested – from monkeys to crazy hats and swords! Kid’s Fest is part of the Oconomowoc Festival Week that includes an art festival, fireworks and much more.

As part of a recent series offered by Addiction Professional Magazine, a panel of experts indicated that gambling addictions usually co-occur with chemical dependency issues and can result from underlying anxiety or depression disorders. Rogers Memorial Hospital helped sponsor the event, which was moderated by Gary Enos, Editor in Chief, and included panelists: Coleen Moore, marketing and admissions manager for the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery; Chris Tuell, EdD, LPCC-S, a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor in Cincinnati, Ohio; and Robert Cabaniss Jr., founder and executive director of Williamsville Wellness Center in Williamsville, New York. About 50 clinicians from the area attended the educational event. The panelists also mentioned the importance of gambling addictions being added to the DSM-5, making it easier for patients to get insurance funding. For a complete summary, read the Addiction Professional article here, or listen to the podcast here.
