Eating Disorder Treatment SpecialistTEMPO Madison, a peer-to-peer organization connecting woman leaders recently hosted a monthly luncheon featuring Theodore E. Weltzin, MD, FAED, FAPA as their guest speaker. Discussing Excessive Exercise in Eating Disorders, the talk explored how exercise can be a symptom of eating disorders. The talk is just one event Rogers Hospital has scheduled as a sponsor of the National Eating Disorder Screening Program and Eating Disorders Awareness Week.

VJS Construction Services has been awarded a 2012 top project award by the Daily Reporter for their services on Rogers Memorial Hospital’s Experiential Therapy, Inpatient Treatment and Child & Adolescent Centers. Approximately 85,000 square feet of new construction of inpatient, adolescent and child center, covered walkways, and experiential therapy was added to the Rogers Memorial Hospital campus in Oconomowoc. Rogers Memorial Hospital’s physical space has now reached the same level as their national treatment programs, further enhancing the recovery process. Renovation to the existing facility also took place along with associated site work and other master plan initiatives.

Each year The Daily Reporter honors 30 notable projects from across Wisconsin that includes municipal buildings, health care construction, residential housing and more.

Michael M. Miller, MD, FASAM, FAPA, Medical Director at the Herrington Recovery Center recently spoke with onmilwaukee.com about the peer pressure adults face about drinking alcohol. "This is certainly a cultural challenge – one of the factors in using any drug, whether it be alcohol or something else, is the extent to which the culture supports using or supports abstaining, and our culture is very supportive of heavy use," he says. The article continues discussing how many social situations in the local area feature alcohol and how abstaining from it causes criticism and peer pressure from friends.

The Annual National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) Annual conference was held February 7-9th in Irvine, California. Specifically designed for mental health professionals the conference provides a mixture of presentations on behavioral healthcare programming as well as opportunities for networking. Lead National Outreach Representative, Mary Jo Wiegratz shares, “NATSAP is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other residential treatment facilities to make sure all of us are doing what we can to provide quality services to troubled children, teens and their families.”
