With the release of the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) this month, Rogers Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that two continuing education seminars for health care professionals will be held in August.
The two identical full-day seminars, scheduled for August 14 in Milwaukee and August 27 in Madison, will feature members of Rogers’ medical staff who will cover the essential diagnostic changes in the new manual and their overall implication. The seminars will be geared for social workers, licensed professional counselors and other clinicians who provide mental health and addiction treatment. Further details will be announced under the “Events” tab of the website as they become available.
According to American Psychiatric Association, the new manual represents a step forward in more precisely identifying and diagnosing mental disorders while providing a common language for clinicians to communicate about their patients. Continuing education is an important part of Rogers Memorial Hospital’s mission to advance the field of behavioral health care.
