One of the collaborations that resulted from the International OCD Foundation Conference is coming to fruition. An inaugural meeting to discuss PANS/PANDAS will be held on Thursday, September 13. Recommendations for effective treatment will also be presented. In addition to Rogers’ staff – Peter Lake, MD; David Jacobi, MD; Brad Riemann, PhD; and Paul Mueller, Chief Operating Officer – those currently planning to attend include Susan M. Swedo, MD, National Institute of Mental Health; Susan Dailey, a mother of a child affected by PANS and IOCDF advocate; Michael Jenike, MD, Chair of IOCDF’s Scientific Advisory Board; Tanya Murphy, MD, University of South Florida; Evelyn Stewart, MD, Child & Family Research Institute in Vancouver; Daniel Geller, MD, Director, Pediatric OCD and Tic Disorder Program at Massachusetts General; and Michael Spigler, program director for IOCDF. PANS/PANDAS is the sudden and severe onset of OCD in children and has been associated with strep infections.
