About 50 professionals from Chicago and throughout Wisconsin – along with a dietitian from Grand Rapids, MI – attended the recent meeting of the Heartland iaedp Chapter. Held at the Radisson Milwaukee West Hotel in Wauwatosa, WI, the event was sponsored by Rogers Memorial Hospital and The REDI Clinic. The event, which addressed a much-requested topic, was geared toward providing members with key information on OCD and its relationship to eating disorders (ED). Participants were treated to lunch and networking, along with a continuing education course by Bradley C. Riemann, PhD, and Theodore E. Weltzin, MD, FAED – “Unlocking the Door: Strategies for Treating OCD in Eating Disorder Patients.” According to evaluations, the course was an important one, offering an abundance of data and treatment suggestions. Responses also indicated presenters were top-notch and the concept of co-occurring eating disorder/OCD symptoms and overlapping treatment would be beneficial for patients. The Heartland iaedp – International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals – helps to provide education and promote treatment to social workers, counselors and psychologists in Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio.
