Residential Treatment

Residential Treatment:

Rogers is a comprehensive psychiatric hospital, nationally recognized for specialty residential treatment programs for eating disorders, addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders for children, teens and adults.

Who we treat:
Young Adults, Men, Women

Through our FOCUS program, Rogers Memorial Hospital offers specialized treatment for adults with depression and other mood disorders. FOCUS services include:

  • Residential treatment for young adults, age 18-30; and for adults, age 30 and older.

  • Partial hospitalization program for adults (18 and older)

For young adults, the transition from adolescence into adulthood can be a challenging time, as mood disorders can derail you at school or work, disrupt your relationships and damage your self-esteem. Older adults with depression may face similar challenges; you may struggle to consistently meet work or family demands due to isolation and avoidance related to depression and anxiety, substance use, self-harm behaviors or thoughts of suicide. If you have not found recovery through other standard treatment, residential care provides a more highly structured environment.

What We Treat

  • Depression

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Other mood disorders

  • Co-occurring anxiety disorders

  • Co-occurring personality and substance use disorders

Led by Jerry Halverson, MD, FAPA, with support from Rachel Leonard, PhD, and Tyler Rickers, DO, the main goal of this program is to provide patients with a comprehensive psychiatric assessment and evaluation to clarify their diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment. In addition to intensive psychiatric and medication management, patients will receive a range of evidence-based individual and group therapy. This treatment includes comprehensive cognitive behavioral therapy, supported with behavioral activation and mindfulness skills. Family involvement during treatment helps to ease their transition to, from or back to school or to work.

Residential treatment is located in the Charles E. Kubly FOCUS Center, a 32-bed facility which is one of the few in the country with this specialized dedication to intensive care for mood disorders and depression. Average length of stay is 45 to 60 days.

Partial hospitalization was added as a care option in October 2015.
